Letter from the SFM 2009 National Conference Chair…
Some say that San Francisco is a beautiful town with serious priorities. Its seriousness pervades the city’s food and beverage, fresh and local ingredients, culture and sustainability. San Francisco is the birthplace of some of America’s most innovative cuisine and a standard bearer in tradition. For these reasons, I can’t think of a better place to hold a serious conference! It is my pleasure to invite all foodservice industry professionals to our 30th Annual SFM National Conference in San Francisco, CA from September 29th through October 2nd, 2009 at the Westin St. Francis Hotel.
The theme “Building Bridges: Competitive Strategies for Today and Tomorrow” reflects the task our industry has before us. We have been dealing with one of the most turbulent times in our financial history, and I can’t recall a bigger need to gather new information which will help develop and redefine our business plans for now and the years ahead. This year’s conference planning committee was tasked to produce a conference that offers crucial information for your business in every single component, while taking advantage of the fun this incredible city has to offer.
The conference program will focus on three areas which include:(1) business building strategies, (2) career development and motivational techniques, and (3) our always popular, culinary component. We have developed new offerings that we hope you will find of value, such as: time in the conference for customer business meetings, a chance to learn from the best restaurateurs in San Francisco with a back of the house tour, a scheduled restaurant dine around opportunity and a Walk for Hunger Awareness across the Golden Gate Bridge.
Do you need help in improving your business results? Do you need techniques to motivate or improve the performance of your staff in this trying time? Could your culinary offerings use a kick? If so, you cannot afford to miss this conference! We promise to deliver in a setting that is synonymous with what our industry is tasked to do—bring food hospitality to our customers.
Best regards and I hope to see you in San Francisco!
