HISTORY
The leadership of the Society for Foodservice Management has supported a member-driven initiative for the Society to take a more active role in supporting and developing women leaders. The SFM Women's Council was officially unveiled at the SFM 25th anniversary national conference in Baltimore in October of 2004.
Our Purpose
To encourage and provide support for SFM women members to develop enhanced leadership skills through mentoring and education.
Our Vision
For women members to have leadership roles within their organizations, SFM and the foodservice industry.
Our Objectives
1. To provide educational programming targeted for and by women
2. To enhance the visibility for women within SFM and its leadership
3. To provide skill development for women
4. To develop a mentoring program

SUB COMMITTEES
Every woman member of SFM is already a "member" of the Women's Council, meaning on the distribution lists for events, programs, etc. The Council is in its developmental stage and a Steering Committee has formed three subcommittees, which are open to volunteers.
Mentorship Program

Our purpose is to provide support for professional development and growth within the foodservice industry to women members of SFM by sharing expertise and experience through an organized mentoring program.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
If you are an SFM member and wish to volunteer, please contact the chair of the subcommittee of which you are interested. They will add you to their database of volunteers and invite you to participate in future conference calls.
